spank test

I’d really love to try spanking, but I’m afraid it will hurt too much.  Does this sound like you?  Well, maybe you should try the spank test.

What is this spank test you mention?

Good question, and when it was first suggested to me by an uber-spankee, this was my reaction too.

The spank test is a kinky suck it and see type arrangement.  A way to sound out the paddles, to cut out the crop, and to whip up a stir about what does and doesn’t work for you.

Ohhh, sounds interesting, tell me more…?

So here’s the idea.  What you do, is you adopt your chosen spanking position, and get spanked.  Genius, eh?  OK, well there is a little more to it than that.  You start off slowly, softly, sensually, and you build up.  You see, there are 3 main factors that influence the sensation from a spank.  One is material, the second is power, and the third is frequency.  The spank test is designed to help you learn about these different aspects and to stay safe (and kinky, obvs!).

Ok, so what do I need?

Don’t worry, you can find out if spanking is for you without any initial outlay of cash!  The only thing you really need is someone to spank you!  In the interests of inclusivity, I’m sure you could figure out a way of doing it by yourself.  However, I wouldn’t recommend duct-taping the paddle to the door and then slamming the door.  It does not end well.

So, you could use your spanking partner’s hand (or rather they could), but, that can get a little sore for the spanker as well as the spankee after a while, so why not raid the kitchen drawers?  What are you looking for I hear you ask? No, not the tea towel (although now I think about it…).  How about spatulas, wooden spoons, cling film rolls, even a saucepan; all have spanking potential.  Don’t have a kitchen?  How about a loofah, or even a shoe?

you probably already own some kinky kit...

you probably already own some kinky kit…

We have chosen our spanking implement– now what?

You, my dear, are in for a spanking good time.  Personally, we always do the spank test with myself bent over the bed, in an ad-hoc manner, shirt lifted up, trousers round my ankles.  We start with a warm hand on my bottom, some gentle rubbing to get the senses aroused, moving on to a few rapid but light wrist-flicks.

Next up is to try the implement of choice.  M will begin by dragging it over my skin, so I get a sense of how it feels.  Then, beginning with a small tap, she will strike me.  The first strike is nothing more than a tease; not even as hard as you would playfully smack your partner’s bottom as they walk past.  The next strike is half a second later and is a bit firmer, another half-second and then a bit firmer again.  After each strike, M asks “is that OK”, and I say “yes”.

This communication is absolutely vital to the spank test.  This is a safe space for you to test out your boundaries, so the spanker must absolutely ask if each spank is OK, and must not continue until given an OK.  This will enable you as spankee to learn about how your body copes and reacts with a spank, and also help the spanker to get comfortable with spanking you.  For some people, giving a spank can be as daunting or more so that receiving a spank.  After all, we are conditioned from an early age to not harm others.

On with the spank test…

As the intensity increases, it’s quite important to space out the strikes more.  Think of it like a hangover – the more you’ve had to drink, the longer you need to recover.  The harder the strike, the longer the sting, so afford more time.  More time before the spanker asks OK, more time before answering, and more time before the next strike.

Ok, got it, what should I expect from spanking?

Spanking can be what you want it to be – a spot of kinky fun; a way to experience some new sensations or a way to push your boundaries, to find out what your body can do.  All I urge is that you are open and frank with your partner so that this great experience doesn’t turn sour.  Find what works for you, and be honest with yourself; don’t be put off by tales of immense pain, or images of purple stripes – those really are the extreme, and you only go there if you want.

And, don’t forget, every new spanking toy or implement is an opportunity to redo the spank test.

Sub, you’re a genius, I love this spanking malarkey, where do I go from here?

Awesome, I love that you love it.  The next step is to read my upcoming guide to spanking – the next steps. (so watch this space…!)
