Partner Plus Couple’s Vibrator

The Partner Plus couples vibrator isn’t our usual kind of toy, and that’s for several reasons.  Firstly we have nothing but bad experiences of this type of toy, well I say bad, more disappointing than bad.  Secondly, we don’t have penetrative sex terribly often, for many reasons, and thirdly, they are usually prohibitively expensive for something that might not work for us.

The Partner Plus however is entirely affordable, at less than half the price of the two brands that might jump straight to mind.  This isn’t a place for alarm bells though, since the Partner Plus is made by the same people that brought us the frankly incredible Satisfyer Pro2.  When Forbidden Pleasures offered the opportunity to try the Partner Plus, I leapt at it.

It’s a simple enough idea – create a U-shaped toy that will happily sit in the vagina and stimulate the clit during sex. Or during anything else for that matter.  The simplest of ideas but one of the most difficult to pull off.  Difficult because everybody is made differently, so my advice is to get to know your body and research which will fit best for you.

Lets see how the Partner Plus measures up.  The insertable part is 2.75 inches long and an inch wide.  From the inside bend of the U, the internal vibrator sits 1.5 inches up.  This insertable part is soft and supple except for where the motor is.  The external part is also 2.75 inches, but a fraction wider.  It houses the controls and another motor and is entirely rigid.  The motor for this external part seems quite well thought out.  It seems to cover pretty much the whole of the length of this external part.  The two prongs sit naturally at about 0.75 inch apart, but the flexibility at the U means it will stretch much wider.  On the whole it looks and feels extremely well made.

The big silver button operates the Partner Plus, and my advice is to press it at the base – by the purple dot – further up and it doesn’t register your press.

To turn on the Partner Plus is a long press, and rather satisfyingly, it comes on at max power on constant.  Further presses of the button take you down 2 constant speed settings and then through 7 patterns.  A long press again turns it off.  The vibrations are really rather awesome, we are both impressed with the power this little thing kicks out.

And this is where I start to sob.

It didn’t work for us.

I’ll talk first about the toy and M solo, with no penetration involved.  The fit is OK on M, not perfect but the best so far.  With it inserted, the clit arm reaches up just past her clit, and tries to bury itself in her clitoral hood.  Only it’s a bit too broad, so can be uncomfortable, that’s OK so we can make sure it sits over the hood too.  The external arm is enough to stimulate the clit, but M likes either pin-point accuracy or sufficient power that her whole vulva vibrates.  the Partner Plus just can’t deliver either of those – I think this type of toy is just destined never to be compatible with what makes M tick.

the insertable arm (left) offers more flexibility compared to the external arm which is rigid

Let us talk a for a minute about it during its intended use; regular penis-in-vagina (PiV) sex.  The idea is that the inner arm stimulates both the penis and the vagina, but also makes things feel a bit more full.  Or, for the penis, tighter.  The vibrations, both internal and from the external arm assisting you to come together.

In this respect the Partner Plus has both partners covered.  The vibrations can be switched so that only one arm is vibrating – so if she takes longer to come, switch on the clit arm, and if he takes longer, switch on the inner arm.  Or have both on constant or on one of the patterns.

The problem for M & I is that M’s vagina wouldn’t accommodate both my penis and the Partner Plus simultaneously, ejecting one or t’other. Thrusting sex isn’t a great idea with this, more of a jiggly action works better.  So, perhaps this encourages more tender lovemaking rather than rigorous PiV sex, certainly the bodily contact of face to face sex aids it to stay in place.  Whilst M isn’t plus size, she does carry a little extra weight around her vulva, and I think this too added to the desire for her body to reject the Partner Plus.

So whilst the Partner Plus didn’t work for us, I think it might work for those people who are perhaps a little slimmer, and aren’t the power hungry folk that we are.  At the time of writing, the Partner Plus is on offer at Forbidden Pleasures so would make an ideal valentines surprise.
